Here, you can take a look at some the paintings I have created over the years and my present studio.
Many of them were inspired by the nature and landscape of the beautiful island of Iona, where we spent summer months in Mary Burn Murdoch, my friend’s home, Grianon, for many years, painting with her and her artist friends.
Was previously trained in Manchester in Art , specialising in Pottery and woodwork, worked and developed Art Projects for Emotionally disturbed children in Manchester and Salford schools, during Teaching career.
Strongly influenced by ten years living in Bergen, Norway, learning traditional “Rosemaling” skills and passion for Landscape painting.
Extensive travel in Far East,especially Korea and Japan developed interest in Zen qualities of space and line, Calligraphy and Wood cutting. Fortunate to study at Benedictine monastery in Pecos, New Mexico and experience Navaho native art and crafts.
Fortunate to spend one month yearly in Israel,leading Pilgrimages and Painting Workshops as well as Archeological Study Groups. Ikon painting developed under Benedictine tutor in Jerusalem, resulting in several commissions in UK and abroad.
Lived in Cathedral town of Chichester and painted under Piers Otley, at the Mill Studio in Sussex, Exhibited locally.
Living ,now, on Isle of Iona, in the Hebrides of Scotland , since 2005
